Who I am

A BEng Computing student at Imperial with excellent initiative and problem solving skills. My long-term goal is either to work in a role within a company that helps promote global social development or to start a create a social enterprise which uses computing technology to help combat poverty.

My Work Experience

  • Camp Instructor

    Fire Tech Camp (London and Reading)

    July 2016 - present

    Taught and delivered week-long summer holiday courses to groups of around eight children aged 9-16.

    Taught after-school classes to groups of around 20 children.

    Led and supervised outdoor games and energiser activities.

    Provided parents with feedback on students' progress.

    Courses delivered: Java, Digital Music Production with Ableton Live, Video Game Design, Web Development

  • Freelance Musician

    Self-employed (Southampton area)

    July 2013 - September 2015

    Provided musical director services to Thomas Seyah, an independent artist from Southampton. Organised concert performances, transcribed music and liaised with audio technicians.

    Developed strong customer service skills through liaising and negotiating with clients in my leading role in three bands - Nouva Jazz - a jazz quintet formed to perform at private parties, weddings and functions; Hamilton Mattress - a jazz ensemble that performed in pubs and Reheated - a soul and pop band that performed at local gigs and festivals.

    Freelance performing - played in pit orchestras, concerts and house bands which gave me experience in working under pressure effectively and learning quickly and spontaneously.

    Freelance recording and composing - played and recorded parts for studio tracks, which helped me develop strong time-keeping skills by meeting deadlines.

  • Rock Academy Tutor

    Wyvern College (Fair Oak, Hampshire)

    September 2013 - October 2014

    Improved interpersonal skills through teaching a rock band of secondary-school aged beginner- and intermediate-level musicians, mentoring and individually teaching them in preparation for an end-of-year concert.

  • Personal Academic Tutor

    Self-employed (Southampton area)

    September 2012 - September 2014

    Tutored KS2, KS3 and GCSE pupils to re-consolidate school work and prepare them for exams. I also underwent training to specialise in teaching pupils with learning difficulties.

  • Hospitality Team Member

    Soul Survivor Teams (Shepton Mallet, Somerset)

    August 2013

    Worked on a team of 40 to cook, prepare and serve hot and cold meals to 1200 staff, delegates and volunteers at the Soul Survivor festival. Also cleaned the canteen after each meal time.

  • Work Experience Placement

    IBM (Hursley, Hampshire)

    April 2012

    Installed server racks into mainframes and configured them on the internal network. Re-imaged laptops and desktops and installed virtual machines for use in product testing by potential IBM clients and proofs of technology.
